Electrician Fundamentals Description: (Programs are offered at NO COST to clients)

  • 160 hours over four (4) weeks. 80 hours Construction CORE & Leadership Fundamentals and 80 hours of Electrical Awareness and Install Training. 
  • OSHA 10 and Basic Safety training 
  • Students complete Sexual Harassment & Substance Abuse in the workplace
  • Introduction to construction math, hand tools, power tool, blueprint reading, construction drawing, and back rigging. 
  • Job Placement support by ABC NorCal for successful graduates    

Certifications Upon Successful Completion:

  • OSHA 10
  • NCCER Construction Core
  • ABC NorCal Pre-Apprenticeship Certification
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Electrical Trainee card State of CA (required to be employed by a C10 contractor)

Class A License Truck Driving Course Description:

Start your career in the trucking industry! Goodwill of Silicon Valley will pay the cost of tuition for Coast to Coast Trucking School for eligible individuals. You must obtain your Class A Permit and all preferred endorsements before you can complete your application for this training program.  

Goodwill will provide career readiness support prior to your enrollment with Coast to Coast Trucking School. While enrolled at Coast to Coast Trucking school you will learn how to perform inspections and drive behind the wheel in a manual double-clutch truck. By successfully completing this program you will earn your Class A License to pursue a Commercial Truck Driving career. 

You are responsible to 

  • Earn your DMV Class A permit with endorsements 
  • Review the DMV Requirements on How to Apply for a Commercial Learner’s Permit: here 
  • Study for and pass Permit test: general knowledge of driving a commercial vehicle, air brakes, and combinations, as well as any endorsements of your choosing: hazmat, double and triple trailers, and tanker vehicles 
  • Attend scheduled meetings with CTE Staff prior to enrollment in the Class A Program 
  • Provide proof of earning Commercial Class A Permit prior to enrolling in training 
  • Attend scheduled training sessions with Coast to Coast Trucking School 
  • Provide updates on job search to gain assistance in finding employment 

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Must have a valid CA Driver’s License with 3-year driving history 
  • Must have Class A Commercial Learner’s Permit with Endorsements 
  • Must be 21 years or older 
  • Must have a Clean Driving Record

Training Information: 

Coast to Coast Truck Driving hours: Tuesday through Saturday,  8:00am – 2:00pm

Required training hours to earn license: 180 hours minimum (6 – 8 weeks)

Medical Assistant  (Programs are offered at NO COST to clients)

What you get from this program
Participants will develop, identify, and analyze instructional skills that will lead to job opportunities in the medical field. Through various lectures and hands on experience, students will be able to implement a variety of medical assistant skills such as following HIPAA & OSHA guidelines, general administrative duties, medical terminology, Clinical duties, billing, and coding. Life skills and job readiness training are also provided during this training course.

In this program, students will learn:

  • Medical terminology, billing, and coding
  • How to take patients’ vital signs
  • Giving injections (IM, ID, & subQ), Venipunctures, and doing ECGs
  • Dose calculations and metric conversions

  • Must not have any adult criminal convictions or any pending charges of any court (other than minor traffic convictions) or have proof of expungement or dismissal of conviction. A background check will be done during the first week of the program.
  • Updated immunizations including 2 Step TB skin test or Quantiferon, 3 series of Hepatitis B or Titer, 2 doses of MMR or Titer, 2 doses of Varicella or Titer, DTaP vaccine or titer, Flu, Covid19, and complete Physical Examination to participate in Clinical Externship. Must complete and submit the Physical Examination Form provided during the enrollment process.
  • Must be drug and alcohol free to qualify for employment.
  • Proof of High School Diploma/Equivalent completed prior to start of class.
  • Proficient in Math and English – Must pass WONDERLIC assessments at 9th grade level or higher
  • Ability to stand for 6 hours and to lift 25 lbs.

This construction fundamentals program ensures participants gain the tools and basic knowledge to start a new career in the construction field:

  • Students will earn certifications for: OSHA 10 safety training, First Aid/ CPR-AED,  Confined space awareness, Work zone safety & traffic control, Hazardous waste removal.
  • Review safety requirements and learn hands on training in Construction fundamentals, Blueprint reading, and Skid steer loaders.
  • Employment preparation training, such as resume development and mock interviews.
  • After the 6 week course students will complete the math and agility test to meet the pre-apprenticeship requirements with Northern California Laborers’ Training Center (LIUNA).
